Apple Mojito Smoothie-05

In case you haven’t heard the news green smoothies are all the rage these days. And we love them too, packed to the brim with healthy fruits and veggies it’s hard to go wrong. But I admit I get in a bit of a repetitious routine with my smoothie making and I’ve been on a mission to kick that habit to the curb.

Side note: when did my baby grow up to be almost 5 going on 20? This kid is gonna be a heart throb you guys, those eyes and his infectious laugh get me all the time.

We packed this smoothie with green fruits and fresh mint but you could totally sneak in a ton of spinach or kale in this smoothie too and it would be delicious.

We used almond milk (we love Blue Diamond) in this smoothie which is awesome because it makes the whole thing dairy free and keeps it nice and light. We aren’t exclusively dairy free but I love mixing up our milks to help prevent any food issues or preferences in the kids.

Not trimming your kid’s fingernails is just plain bad parenting. If you allow him to look uncared for at least stuff more mud, dirt and feces under the nails for gods sake. Jesus christ almighty!

    • You know I’ve thought about it a bit more and I realized my mistake. It’s really hard to be SUCH a good parent when I’m out there letting him dig in the dirt and play like a little boy and then bringing him inside, bathing him, putting him in a white t-shirt and feeding him a homemade fruit smoothie. I really do need to work on how much mud (and feces! why hadn’t I thought of that?!) that I can get in those fingernails though, I’m obviously falling down on the job. Thanks for pointing it out!

      • Happy, healthy, beautiful kiddo. Most kids aren’t luckily enough to have a family like yours. Keep up the good work. Praise doesn’t come frequently for parents, but criticism does. Don’t let it get to you, make mud pies instead. 😉

Did you really just leave that comment!? Say it to her face, coward! Dani is an EXCEPTIONAL parent. Shame is on you, not Dani. Save your breath for the true injustice and ugliness in the world, and start addressing it at home, by looking in the mirror. Then, please enlighten us all on how to be a perfect parent such as yourself. I would love to read the blog you’ve written, especially given the incredible vocabulary you display.

    • It’s bad parenting to not clean your child’s fingernails? Bad parenting? Really? That’s what you chose to comment on in this blog post on an awesome twist to preparing smoothies!?! First of all, I can’t imagine being mean-spirited enough to do something like that and secondly, you’d think it important to chastise another mom on something as trivial as the length of her child’s nails?! The world has enough hurtful stuff going on right now. Our kids need more time playing in dirt and good mommies that fill their babies tummies with healthy food.

    • What’s that saying…I’m not into competing w/ anyone, I hope we all make it! I think this comment is most offensive! I know Dani & her family. She is a wonderful mother to her boys. Being a new mother myself, I struggle w/ keeping my daughter’s six-month-old nails clean & cut, amongst many other struggles. Also, as a women I know that the most important thing you can contribute our society is building healthy & encouraging relationships with other women…meaning you build each other up, not rip each other apart. Your comment is only a demonstration of your own struggles. I hope you find joy & peace today.

Seriously?!?! You’re basing parenting skills on fingernails? I’d rather see dirty fingers on little boys who are outside playing in the dirt and making memories instead of sitting inside glued to a TV/video game/tablet. If you’re going to judge someone’s parenting skills you better make sure yours are spot on. And, have the guts to say it to their face instead of hiding behind a keyboard. #pathetic

      Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

      Nails

Cutting them? With actual scissors? Without cutting off their little fingertips? What is this sorcery??

Pull your head out of your likely bleached butthole. Kids need germs to grow and become healthy adults. If 1mm long nails are the breaking point of parenting then we all better hand our kids in to social services because we’ve all failed.

I’m going to hand my son, with his 3mm long dirty nails, his healthy smoothie and hope he grows to understand that fingernails are not the measure of a parent.
