It’s true! We have babies!!
Birth day thoughts:
Sometimes things start feeling really depressing around this little very cute but so far unproductive farm. This morning I thought I would quite literally just roll over and cry if Kevin came in for what would be the umpteenth time saying, “nope, no baby rabbits”.
But he didn’t!
Digger gave birth to seven beautiful little black babies, not a single orange one in the batch! I don’t pretend to understand color genetics but I wonder if she will ever have other colors or if the black is dominant? Time will tell right?
Today’s thoughts:
In the course of the coldest week we have seen all fall we had our first set of baby rabbits and they are doing very well. It is amazing to me that it can feel so cold out there to me and yet they are all warm and cozy in their little nest. God really designed his animals to be just fine in the elements!
I have also realized living in the south has made me even more of a chicken when it comes to cold weather. I have a feeling that visiting Oregon in the cold again in a few weeks is going to be quite the shocker to my system.
As I went out to check on the animals again this morning I was again floored by just how much fur a momma rabbit pulls. It seems that they should have bald spots from how much hair they pull! Here’s a quick little video I took on day 1, it’s very short to keep from stressing mama out. Hopefully I’ll catch a longer one in the days to come.
Great job Mama! We are so excited to see what a great momma you will be!
I just left this note on your site, but I am unsure where it will post so figured I would also post to your comments section 😉 oOOOOOOO They are so TINY! How did mama act after you went in with camera? She seems like she has a pretty calm disposition. So excited for you to finally have some little ones, it has been a very long wait. Keep us updated on how the are doing.
