Do you ever have moments where you wonder what the heck you are doing and if something is ever going to come through? Not to sound overly dramatic but the last 4 1/2 months I have felt like this every. single. day. And because of more than one disappointing experience in our early married life of already trying this endeavor we were more than a little unsure we could pull it off.
But thanks in huge part to our parents who have been so gracious and generous, one heck of a real estate agent and a great loan officer, title agents, closing agents and about 5 billion other people who we needed to interact with, talk to, sign the same paperwork three times with, laugh, cry, drink coffee and make frantic phone calls with……we as of last night are officially HOMEOWNERS!
I’ve been DYING over here to tell you about it but we just wanted to make sure everything came through before we shared. We had to repaint the house to get it through financing so we’ve already gotten our DIY on over here.
It is cute and tiny clocking in at just over 800 square feet, and needs some lovin’ but we think it’s just perfect! Come on in and get the quick tour!
The kitchen is nice and open which is fabulous and has okay light….these photos actually make it look WAY brighter than it is so we may be popping some skylights in or opening up that window area to brighten it up.
It was a rental for the last few years so we’ve got lots of cleaning and painting on the inside to do but its been remodeled relatively recently so it shouldn’t be too bad to live in until we can save up the remodel funds to do some tweaks of our own.
It’s in town within walking distance of so many great shops and restaurants and we scored a huge double lot!
Tons of room for the boys to play and even room for a big garden! We couldn’t be happier with the lot. It’s also got tons of massive old growth trees which I didn’t manage to capture very well in these photos that cover the whole front area of the lot and provide tons of shade in the summer. Hello no A/C so this is going to be very helpful.
It photographed so well in the photos so it was kind of shocking how much paint repair it really needed once we saw it in person.
But we got to work on it and we love the way it turned out! We still have some trimming out to do once we move in but its repaired and going to last a good long time so we are pleased.
We prepped the house for an entire week in the evenings and then rocked out all the painting with the help of Kevin’s dad and brother that weekend.
We went with a lovely taupe with a creamy white trim, the medallion supports under the roof will be a rich dark brown and we will probably do the door that color too unless I decide to get crazy with it.
We got keys last night so I’m off to clean and eliminate some of that tan attack that is every single wall AND ceiling in the house. Can’t wait to share with you all again as we go along with this project!!
It really happened!!!!!!!!!!
Love the improvements!
blessings.
Congratulations. That’s how I had to do my remodels or maintenance was one major item a year. New septic – first year; new roof – 2nd year, updated electrical – 3rd year, etc.
Congratulations! Very happy for you guys.
Congratulations! It’s absolutely adorable! I love the brick walkway… and I am totally drooling over the double lot! Do I see beautiful gardens in your future?
Best wishes!
~ Christine
So excited for you guys!

It is really happening !!!!! So excited for you guys, what an exciting journey you have ahead of you in your first home <3 CONGRATULATIONS <3
Congrats! Now you can go make that extra lot pretty 😉 Do I take it all the furniture in it came from the renters? 😉 Btw, very nice paint job outside – it is amazing just what a (ton) of paint will do!
Yes all the furniture was the renters. Fortunately they did remove it all already I just haven’t gotten new photos yet 🙂
