We started the master bedroom project several weeks ago, understanding that it probably would get stretched out a bit with all the spring garden craziness. Our theory was that it would be best to get it underfoot while I was still not so large that I could help if needed or at least have the energy to keep up with Noah solo for several days or knock out other projects if we got some help.
Some of you probably already know this but we have decided to have a home birth with our newest addition. We are very excited about this! We are really pushing to finish painting and flooring our master bedroom beforehand so it can be a nice relaxing area to setup the labor pool and escape from the rest of the household if/when I need it during early labor.
Kevin gets a personal day once a quarter which we hadn’t used up yet and we knew we could combine that day and take a paid vacation day to extend our weekend into four days of projects.
We had some amazing friends volunteer to help out with Noah on various days which was incredible. Who knew how much you can accomplish without a toddler underfoot and a strong focus!
Kevin was able to (with the help of our good friend Jordan) knock out all the prep work in the bedroom, clean, mask and spray two coats on the trim before the end of the weekend. They rocked it!
This is where we were by the end of our extended work weekend….
A few months back we were gifted an amazing 10 foot sliding glass door which Kevin installed and trimmed out. And now it even has painted trim! So amazing to not have our bedroom connected to that unfinished utility room!
I was so not sad to see this closet get painted after seeing it everyday for two years!
Pretty floor trim and spot priming all over the walls where the boys sanded and filled bazillions of holes and weird lumps into smooth beautiful walls.
Kevin also raised the clothing rod and shelving brackets in the closet for me last minute when we realized that Noah’s closet was significantly higher and led to a much better usable closet space.
We normally find it really difficult to work on projects much during the week in the evenings anymore. By the time dinner is finished, and Noah is in bed it’s 7:30 or 8 and we are usually so tired we just watch a quick show on Hulu, read a bit or go straight to bed.
But this last week Kevin squeezed in a couple spray sessions during lunch and after work because our weekend was so packed with garden work projects.
Here is the finished paint job:
Just look at that beautiful closet!!!
Beautiful trim view from the hallway:
I can’t believe the difference it has made in this room!
We are itching to get in here and start flooring this room so we can move back in! Hopefully we can wrap up our garden push here in the next week or two and get back to this project soon!
