Our chai smoothie is a cool, sweet drink with a flavor similar to the popular Indian tea. This sweet fruit smoothie, made with wholesome foods, has no refined sugars, making it a healthy, guilt-free treat!

Smoothies are the best part of my mornings. I always wake up and throw on my robe and head to the kitchen for my delicious morning chai smoothie. The recipe is super simple so I always have all the ingredients handy in kitchen to whip up this healthy breakfast smoothie.

I stopped drinking coffee a few months ago and this chai smoothie has been a great coffee substitute to satisfy that morning craving for something sweet and packed with flavor.

I absolutely adore my Vitamix blender, after having TONS of crappy blenders it’s so nice to have something that just works all the time. It might seem like a simple thing but I love breaking out my stemless wine glasses for my chai smoothie. It makes it feel like an indulgence but…a healthy one. Smoothie in hand I’m all set to relax and sit in my cozy chair while I grabbing my phone to read the news or scroll on facebook until the kids come barreling down the stairs.

I love relaxing most mornings and not rushing right off so getting in a healthy breakfast smoothie is a simple way to get breakfast done in a flash and get on to the rest of my busy day.

What is chai tea?

Chai is a flavor of black tea. Originally from Indian cuisine, the spices in an authentic chai recipe are:

  • Ginger
  • Cardamom
  • Black pepper
  • Cloves, and
  • Cinnamon

How do you make a chai smoothie?

Our chai smoothie recipe uses most of the spices found in chai tea. To tone down the spicy taste, we don’t use black pepper. You can certainly add a pinch if you want to.

Instead of sugar, we sweeten the smoothie with bananas and Medjool dates.

Rather than a base of caffeinated black tea, our chai smoothie recipe is an almond milk breakfast smoothie which makes it dairy free and kid-friendly!

If you like extra thick smoothies, before blending, add a couple of ice cubes to the smoothie ingredients.
